The Weereewa Lookout is one of the last stops on the way in from Sydney to Canberra (or one of the first ones if you are leaving Canberra!). It is a high lookout that marks the beginning of the climb into Canberra (or the descent from Canberra!). From here, the ACT-NSW border is less than half hour away.. The turnoff to this lookout, which is situated beside the Federal Highway on your way into Canberra, is on your left as you climb the hill after leaving the shores of Lake George. The views over Lake George are quite extensive and, on this occasion, were even better as Lake George had lots of water in it.

The lookout provides a panoramic view of the Southern Tablelands’ natural wonder, extending as far as the wind farm. It is a popular spot for photographers to capture stunning images of the region. Visitors to Weereewa Lookout can enjoy the glorious Australian lake district, appreciating the flora and potentially spotting…. Lake George (or Weereewa or Ngungara in the Ngunnawal language) is an endorheic lake in south-eastern New South Wales, Australia. It is approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) north-east of Canberra located adjacent to the Federal Highway en route to Canberra and Sydney. Lake George is also the name of a locality on the western and southern edges of the lake, within the area of the Queanbeyan.
